Want to stand out from your peers?

Try this really cool mini~project in Photoshop. Create an “animated gif”

From the Genius Marketing Guru’s at Hub Spot. A Tutorial on How to Create Animated
GIF’s in Photoshop.

To create this masterpiece, you have to use Scripts & Layers then merge your layers into a single frame. Then you turn your static image into a GIF. You will use your Timeline Window in Photoshop…wait…wasn’t that only used in Flash & Illustrator…nope…you can utilize this tool in PS too.

Then you will create a “frame animation” by making each layer a frame of your GIF. You determine the time between frames and how often to loop it [ to drive people a little crazy 😉 ] Finally you save it as a dithered gif…a “dither”…ha, ha! What the heck does that mean?

From the Web Style Guide, here is what it says about “dithering”
Full-color photographs may contain an almost infinite range of color values. Dithering is the most common means of reducing the color range of images down to the 256 (or fewer) colors seen in 8-bit GIF images.

Dithering is the process of juxtaposing pixels of two colors to create the illusion that a third color is present. A simple example is an image with only black and white in the color palette. By combining black and white pixels in complex patterns a graphics program like Adobe Photoshop can create the illusion of gray values.

If you have a GIF with color gradients, choosing “dithered GIFs” prevents color banding. A higher dithering number translates to the appearance of more colors and details. Then save your file as a animated GIF to use in Wowing your clients.

Here is the Animated GIF they made over at Hub Spot:

Currently I am seeking a Graphic or Video Design Internship. I have prayed about my future and asked God to show me signs for what direction he wants my life to go in. My heart wants to be a Designer. Either a Graphic, Web or Video Designer. I would like to do Online Marketing for a stable, open-minded, creative, flexible, TEAM Oriented & fun organization.

I need to deepen my experience in this field and gain some more valuable skills. I have a ton in Student Loans and although I want to go back for my MFA in Graphic Design; it is not a very realistic plan right now. They have a wonderful program in Savannah at SCAD (Savannah College of Art & Design) I’d like to go there for a Masters Degree but it’s just a small dream right now. I don’t have the money and I need work and plan for my Future.

Please contact me if you have any questions about my background!

Why There’s No Rainbow On My Face

Living out Gods word to LOVE others first, because it is the Greatest Commandment!

The past two weeks have brought an onslaught of confusing emotions. My body froze and felt ill all at the same time when I realized a very disturbed young man had walked into a church in my favorite city in the world, The Holy City itself, and shot and killed nine people in cold blood. There is a reason our minds and hearts have no context for this – because it’s not supposed to happen. We can take down all of the Confederate flags in the world, but that won’t change the fact that there are hateful and disturbed people out there who will do horrible things.

I experienced a wave of mixed emotions when I read that the Supreme Court legalized gay marriage across the United States. It seems odd to me that something as wonderful and beautiful and complicated as marriage can be decided in the same way…

How To Pinterest

If you are trying to get a better web following and are not considering Pinterest or YouTube, you are
sorely mistaken. Consider this. Americans watched 33 billion online content videos in February alone.
Pinterest is now the third most popular social networking tool beating LinkedIn & Tumblr. While Friending
and Tweeting my still be really popular; pinning is now becoming more and moreo popular.

Pinterest is the picture sharing program tha allows users to create vision boards of their favorite things.
It is now the third most popular social network based on visits from American users. In place after Facebook
and Twitter, Pinterest had 104,415,903 unique visits last month alone (March ’13). This massive number shows
a rapid jump since the company first launched in March 2010 and has been picking up in recent months. There has
been a 50 percent boost in traffic from January to February this year. Pinterest now has more visitors than
Linked In, Tumblr and Google +.

One interesting trend is that Pinterest actually beat our Facebook and Twitter in Alabama, Oklahoma, Kansas,
Utah and Missouri. This shows a geographic skewing towards the middle of the country. This trend could continue
and soon another medium called Pinterest could overtake the internet Phenom named Facebook, but only time will
tell. So, “how do you use Pinterest?” This is the most common question I get from coworkers and Committee members.

So, let me go to the experts (Pinterest) and let them explain it to you! 🙂

pin board

a pin board at CKRE

A pin starts with an image or video you add to Pinterest. You can add a pin from a website using the Pin It bookmarklet or upload an image right from your computer. Any pin on Pinterest can be re-pinned  and all pins link back to their source.

A board is where you organize your pins by topic. You could pin ideas for remodeling your bathroom to your House Projects board, for example. Boards can be secret or public, and you can invite other people to pin with you on any of your boards.

When you follow someone, their pins show up in your Pinterest home feed. You can follow all of someone’s boards or just the ones you like best. To manage who you’re following, go to your profile and click Following.

When you unfollow someone, their boards won’t show up in your home feed anymore. You can unfollow all of someone’s boards, or just the ones you’re not that interested in. Nobody will get notified if you unfollow them.

Pin It Bookmarklet

The Pin It bookmarklet lets you easily pin things you see on websites and blogs. To get the bookmarklet or learn more, check out our Goodies page.
